I liked where it was going but found it ultimately a bit pointless and dissapointing. I can see how it's inspired by Lovecraft, but it's more like lovecraft kareoki or somthing. I think that they had the best intentions, but lost their way a bit. Perhaps a good directors cut would sort it out.

yes, the first half of the movie, before they realize the ship is 'alive,' is more scary than the second part. because by that point you're basically presented with a familiar horror scenario: 'let's split up in the funhouse'

If anyones into Warhammer 40000 it seems alot like a concept based oncalled the warp. Basically ships travell through the warp(which is basically hell) which is full of demons. This is basically folding time and space in order to get from point A to B faster. Its intresting because warhammer was out way before the movie.

Event Horizon is a great movie, and certainly has a little flavour of Lovecraft in there.

For whoever mentioned Warhammer, It's interesting also to know that before people really heard about games workshop (and before they got big enough to worry about copyright infringement) , they used to rip off concepts, characters and images wholesale from various other fantasy, horror and sci-fi sources, so it's entirely possible that very old games workshop products and literature have Mythos stuff in there.

Warhammer 40K has been around for about 20 years, I think. The original Rogue Trader book was from the late 80s, as far as I can remember.

Oh, and Pino, yeah, most early Warhammer 40K concepts were nabbed from Lovecraft and Moorcock.

I wouldn't dought it for a second. If you look at the old tyranids there almost 100% ripped from Aliens
