Yeah, I saw that on the news earlier. Badass stuff, man.
On a similar note, there's been a new (well, somewhat new) genus of mollusc created for something that washed ashore - the Colossal Squid.

check out the photo captioned 'the severed appendage was still functional.' there was a show on national geographic recently, probably one of those 'taboo' episodes, with people eating recently butchered octopus tentacles, still moving and able to choke the diner to death (which has happened).

Ugh... I share Howards disgust and abhoration for those beasts. And that was just a small one, as well. There have been tentacles washed ashore that alone were at least double those depicted there. The big badasses are even deeper....

I refuse to enter the sea. Being on a boat is fine. Appreciating the view is fine. But the moment you step in the water, you're no longer at the top of the food chain.
