Winning a major is as much the luck of the draw Ping G10 Driver as it is good solid play, especially at the US Open. Pebble Beach definitely sharpened its teeth for day two of the Open, with the greens firming up and the winds picking up. But by the time Woods teed off, the winds that plagued the competitors in the middle portion of the day settled down.
Woods has allied luck and solid play to extend his Ping G10 Irons lead to three strokes and he hasn't even completed his second round.
He took full advantage playing in the calmest conditions late in the afternoon at Pebble Beach as the majority of players battled in tough, fast and windy conditions before Ping iWi Series CRAZ-E Putter him. Some played well considering, especially Nick Faldo. But the Englishman, who carded a 74 for his second round, four shots "under" the average scoring for the day, found himself ten shots behind Tiger, doing nothing wrong really and having a drought of luck!
Woods leads at nine under par, three Ping Rapture V2 Irons strokes ahead of 'The Mechanic' Miguel Angel Jimenez.
Woods was three under for the day when the claxon sounded calling all players Ping Golf in for the evening. Just before it went off, Tiger duly rammed home his second consecutive birdie from 30 feet at the notorious 12th hole at Pebble Beach.
