Nox Arcana's Necronomicon
(news item from Unfilmable.com)
Nox Arcana's The Necronomicon CD is due for release October 21, 2004. Necronomicon is a dark symphony based on H.P. Lovecraft's legendary book of shadows. The concept album contains 21 tracks of dark orchestrations, gothic choirs, and ominous chants. The cover art was painted by Monolith Graphics Joseph Vargo. Sound samples will be available soon.
Joseph Vargo reveals, "The theme for the Necronomicon cd basically centers around the Great Old Ones, the forgotten race of beings that inhabited the Earth long before mankind existed. They were ancient sorcerers who were imprisoned deep within the Earth and banished to distant dimensions by the Elder Gods. The Necronomicon holds the key to releasing them and summoning them back to our world."

NECRONOMICON
by Nox Arcana
A dark symphony based on H.P. Lovecraft's legendary book of shadows.

This epic concept album is a spellbinding tribute to the Cthulhu Mythos. The Necronomicon is believed to contain the lost knowledge of the Great Old Ones, the ancient lords of darkness that held dominion over the Earth aeons ago. The book is said to hold the forbidden rituals of summoning that will bring about their resurrection and open the forgotten gateway between worlds. This CD is a mixture of exotic, dark fantasy themes and features 21 tracks of foreboding orchestrations, Gothic choirs, Egyptian and Middle-Eastern melodies, eerie voices and ominous chants.
Nox Arcana's debut album "Darklore Manor" met with world-wide critical acclaim and was hailed as "the ultimate gothic expression" by Side-Line Magazine. Other reviewers praised the CD as "darkly elegant," "spectacular," and "a masterpiece." While the music and concept of "Darklore Manor" possessed several Lovecraftian elements, the band's latest release "Necronomicon" is a full-blooded offering to the Great Old Ones.
NOX ARCANA Biography:
Members: Joseph Vargo & William Piotrowski
Joseph Vargo is an internationally acclaimed artist whose visions of gothic fantasy have graced the covers of books, magazines and cds worldwide. He began his artistic career in 1991 and achieved worldwide status by 1993 with the release of a series of art collections entitled "Born of the Night." In 1998, as a member of the band Midnight Syndicate, Vargo applied his musical influence and trademark title "Born of the Night" to the band's breakthrough release, which he conceived and produced. Vargo radically altered Midnight Syndicate's sound, giving the band a new direction and streamlining their experimental mix of styles to focus exclusively on a darker sound that would appeal to his established gothic audience. In 1999, Vargo directed the follow-up release "Realm of Shadows," and in the following years, he created various artistic projects; most notably to date is "The Gothic Tarot" and the illustrated gothic anthology "Tales from the Dark Tower." In 2003, Vargo returned to the music arena with his new project Nox Arcana and began to compose the ghostly melodies and lyrics for the band's debut CD "Darklore Manor," a gothic soundtrack based on a legendary haunted house near Salem, Massachusetts. Vargo's avid interest in horror writer H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos served as the inspiration for Nox Arcana's second album, "Necronomicon."
William Piotrowski began his professional music career at the early age of 15 when he was hired to create the musical score for an independent video production entitled "Ghosts of Ohio". In 2003, he joined forces with Joseph Vargo to compose and engineer the foreboding orchestrations for "Darklore Manor." He plays several instruments including guitar and keyboards, and is well versed in midi and digital recording technology. William's interests in the realm of the supernatural are reflected in his dark, symphonic compositions.
NECRONOMICON will be available OCTOBER 21, 2004 from Monolith Graphics http://www.monolithgraphics.com. * Download music samples, view animations and read the mythos at http://www.noxarcana.com

We used a Nox Arcana song (with permission of course) to score the teaser trailer for my upcoming short film, Read me a story...
It fit's perfectly, and I couldn't be happier with the results! I should have it online soon for all to see (hope it's worth the wait).
Take care,
