The Dark Grimoire Tarot

Post by neonchris »

Hey guys - just got The Dark Grimoire Tarot. It's pretty special and stands in stark contrast to The Necronomicon Tarot which incidently I also think is great but has been discussed already on this site. The main difference is that while the necronomicon tarot is for the most part based on Donald Tyson's additions/elaborations on the mythos, the Dark Grimoire Tarot uses pretty much only existing mythos sources. The artwork is therefore set for the most part in the settings and times of lovecraft's own stories. The colours remind me of sepia photographs and all the familiar characters are in there, except for great Cthulhu who is kind of consicous in his abscence, brooding behind the doors of his tomb in the death card. I'm really excited to start using this deck, it wasn't obvious in the shop that it was lovecraftian at all, I notice that in other languages it's called "the necronomicon tarot", perhaps an already existing Necronomicon tarot meant that they had to allude to the necronomicon...
