Manufacturer’s Description
IMPROVED FEEL, MORE CONTROL Building upon the high technology design and resounding success of the original AP irons, (Taylormade Rossa Tourismo Putter)Titleist introduces the new high performance AP2 irons for avid golfers.(TaylorMade Rescue Hybrid 2009) The Titleist AP2 are multi-material,(TaylorMade R7 CGB Max Rescue Hybrid) dual cavity irons that take the design mission of “Advanced Performance You Can Feel” to new heights.(Cleveland CG15 Satin Chrome Wedge) The concept for the original Advanced Performance irons arose as a result of research that indicated serious golfers want performance with great feel, not performance at the expense of feel.(Cleveland CG15 Black Pearl Wedge) The Titleist R&D team’s advanced research group has been conducting extensive sound and vibration analysis aimed at reducing the harsh lower frequency vibration that causes poor feel in irons. (Nike Victory Red TW Forged Blade Irons)This research led to combining several technologies and materials in the back cavity of the new AP irons resulting in a new Tuned Feel System to take feel to a new level. (Titleist Vokey Spin Milled Black Nickel Wedge)The new Tuned Feel System is a co-molded medallion of soft elastomer and aluminum plate. (Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Detour Putter)This insert has been specifically designed to improve the sound and feel of each new iron. For the new AP2, a softer, more solid feel is achieved. Other subtle refinements to the new AP2 have created performance gains in feel, sound, and turf interaction.
Review 1:
To achieve the ball speed and launch conditions, the AP1 and AP2 incorporate multi-material construction and a dual cavity. (Ping G15 Hybrid)The back sole is comprised of a tungsten nickel alloy intended to optimise launch conditions and for a larger range of swing speeds.
The AP irons are built using four different materials: a steel body,(Ping Rapture V2 Fairway Wood) a tungsten nickel steel box, a central support bar with an elastomer cushion, and an aluminum cavity plate.(Ping G15 Fairway Wood) The AP1 iron body is cast from 431 stainless steel while the AP2 is forged with 1020 mild carbon steel.
The Titleist AP2 Irons are like the AP1 irons in the fact they are also multi-material constructed and dual cavity, but the resemblance ends there. (Ping Rapture V2 Irons)The AP2s use chrome-plated technical forging for the skilled, single digit golfer who wants contemporary iron technology with traditional solid feel, looks and shot control.
Dual Cavity, Multi-Material Design: Upper and lower cavities optimize weight distribution to the perimeter, while the precise forged steel body with high density tungsten nickel box provide feel, forgiveness and performance.(PING Rapture V2 Driver) Elastomer cushion on central support bar dampens vibration for outstanding feel.
Tungsten Nickel Box: High density material located in the back and sole encloses the lower cavity to locate weight low and deep for performance while providing structural rigidity and low frequency vibration dampening for unmatched feel.
Thin Face: Distributes additional weight low and deep to help improve the weight distribution and performance.
The AP2 irons with come standard with the Precision Project X Stock Shaft which provides for a medium launch and outstanding spin control as well as the Titleist Tour Velvet Rubber made by Golf Pride.
Review 2:
I was nervous about buying the Titleist AP2 irons since I am a once a week golfer who shoots in the low 80’s. I dont know why I waited so long….there were my cure for the pulls left.(Maruman Majesty Prestigio Gold Premium Fairway Wood) They are nice and heavy and have helped me slow my hands down, what was once a 10 yard draw is now a 10 foot draw! They are more forgiving than other “player’s” irons that I have tried (Adams CB1, Mizuno MP-52, Callaway X Forged). If you’re like me and you werent sure if you could hit these because you see guys on Tour hitting them just go for it, you wont be sorry!
Review 3:
I have recently purchased these irons and have been using them for 4-6 weeks. I can honestly say that I have never played a better iron in 35 years of playing golf as a single figure handicap. (Maruman Prestigio Gold Premium Driver)They are so soft and just fly straight as an arrow effortlessly. I have rifle 6.0 shafts and the shots feel like butter. I am presently 53 years of age playing off a 4 handicap and my new goal is to get down to scratch. I have never felt so confident in my life as a golfer and I believe these iron will help me to score better by hitting it closer to the flags. (Mizuno MP-52 Irons)These irons are absolutely sensational and I wholeheartedly reccommend them to anyone playing off 10 and better who wants to make a significant difference to their shotmaking.
