Tsathoggua: Seeking Tales Of The Batrachian Old One

Post by Egobane »

Greetings and blessings of the fury toad-shaped one upon you!

I'm wondering if any devout mythos acolytes out there might assist in helping a fellow Lovecraftian dredge up some interesting material related to the batrachian old one Tsathoggua. I am already familiar with the complete contributions of CAS / REH / Lovecraft and have recently purchased a copy of the long-awaited and, unfortunately, extremely disappointing Tsathoggua Cycle published by Chaosium Ltd in 2005. Thus far, the best material I have been able to locate (outside of Smith's classic hyperborean grotesques) are Michael Shea's eponymous novella, Robert E. Howard's "The Black Stone", "The Thing On The Roof", and "The Hoofed Thing", Derleth's "The Lurker At The Threshold", Robert M. Price's Dreadful Derlethian pastiches "The Round Tower" and " Young Goodwife Doten", C.J. Henderson's forgettable "The Abbey", Cater's risible "Manuscript Found In The Vermont Woods" and the distinctly Tsathogguan "Rainy Season" in Stephen King's third short fiction omnibus Nightmares and Dreamscapes. I have also consulted Chris Jarocha-Ernst's ambitious but deeply flawed Cthulhu Mythos Bibliography and Concordance, but without detailed synopses it is difficult to determine what might be innovative and potentially useful material (eg Rainy Season - King; Tsathoggua - Shea) and what might be merely fannish pastiche. Any help with this would be deeply appreciated! Many thanks in advance...
