Cult site updates!

ok, the updates are done and... up. what has changed? the look of the main page has changed www.CultofCthulhu.net , as well as, the addition of a new area. a newsletter sign-up page which is how people shall receive The Green Trapezoid! yes, this quarterly e-zine will contain information on current goings-on, short essays on Cultish topics, and fun things. so please sign-up when convenient.

lastly, my prose poem Unbearable Fruit is on the other site: www.Eldritch-Infernal.com ...interestingly enough, Unbearable Fruit is just as "inspired" and oppressive/difficult as the Meta-Sigil itself. i had the title as a dead link long before i began work on the poetry. in a way, this work is a piece of word magic. not everyone will enjoy it, however. and that's perfectly fine; as it should be.

I just looked at it a little bit, and I'll do a more in-depth reading in the future, but...

I'm afraid I'm going to make you really upset by yelling at your work. I'm sorry, I have nothing against you personally.

Now then, there is nothing the least bit satanic about Cthulhu. Satan is a human embodiement of a human idea-evil. Satan is also, arguably, a god of the Earth, and so does indeed have his place in the Mythos-as another of the slightly pathetic herd of the gods of the Earth that Nyarlathotep keeps. Anyone who truly worships Satan and is devoted to human evil will never be a good servant of a Mythos deity, or even a Mythos high priest like Cthulhu.

Cthulhu is not evil. Cthulhu represents a system of values so alien to earth that merely the appearance of a being who would naturally hold them can drive men insane. The very idea of good and evil is probably alien to Cthulhu. Satan's opinions would be much closer to your local religious authorities than to Cthulhu's. In fact, Satan might even help humanity against Cthulhu if he had to. Cthulhu would probably ignore Satan.

Mixing Satanism with the worship of Cthulhu as you seems to have done cheapens the Mythos and makes it clear that you really don't know how to worship Cthulhu.

thanks, i value and appreciate your feedback. although, my opinion of the Mythos, and how it interacts with our individual realities, differs.

to me, mixing the Mythos with "real world" or "earthly" entities/pantheons/cosmologies actually strengthens HPL's paradigm. it's stuff like the flying spaghetti monster that cheapens and degrades the Mythos (again, my opinion).

some believe Satan to be a personification of forces that are just as dark, alien, and outside our terrestrial laws as the Old Ones themselves. in any case, there's more to the Cult of Cthulhu than being Lovecraftian Satanists... much more.

i had this same problem when i first learned of the cult, but i don't think they subscribe to the judeo-christian connotations of satan. these guys see it as more of an archetype of self-advocacy. satan to them symbolizes a way of being, rather than some kind of idol or deity to be revered. or am i wrong about that?

anyway, i've been lurking around the cult for a while now. it's not for me personally, but i still find it interesting.
