I currently have writers block

Post by TheEdge »

I dont know its the heat of summer of just blatant apathy but I really have no drive. You think I may need a new job? Or just quit it all together?

writer's block is a myth based on the presumption that you're not a writer unless you are constantly writing.

the marketplace might disagree, but i say being a good writer has little to do with how much you write. i think the best writers probably wait through a lot of 'block' periods before they are sufficiently inspired to continue their work.

maybe what you should do in the meantime is read a bunch. refill your idea tank. if you are indeed a writer, the writing will come back to you when the time is right.

Yep, I'd say reading is the best way to end Writer's Block.

Life's a drug. Instantly addictive, causes rapid aging, and invariably fatal, but it gives some temporary happiness and delusions of grandeur.

a drug can be anything that creates an intended physiological effect when consumed. food, water and air count too. we are inherently and incurably addicted to these substances.

everything in moderation! except the ToD forum, we don't need no steenking moderators

P.S.
Don't look at the greater website. I just remembered reading that story in an old science fiction anthology, and then googled it and was surprised that the complete text was online. Then I looked at the website after posting the link...don't go there.

Writer's Block

Post by SirHoneyBadger »

The best way to cure writer's block is to sit down and write something. It doesn't matter what-write an imaginary phonebook-just write it. Eventually, you'll bore yourself into writing something interesting, and bingo, you're cured.

Dear Friends! I have cured my writers block to a small degree and have started one of my main works I had floating around in my head for some time. It is written in both the first and third person and the title is The Journal of a Claustrophobic. I may never publish any of these works but I use it as therapy in this boring realm we call life. Thanks for all you help, I used all your suggestions
