A curtain constellation, you say? No. The Necronomicon says its not the position of the stars it's their COLOUR. As in, blue, red, yellow, ect... Cthulhu waking up is probably, therefore, furtthermore and thensome, halted by the amount of solar radiation hitting the earth (and maybe a little bit of alignment), so will Cthulhu get up when the sun becomes a white dwarf? I dont know, doesn't say.Eternities End wrote:Basically its just "When The Stars are Right" meening once the stars align in a curtain constilation Cthulhu and the rest of the Great Old Ones will destroy the earth and kill everyone...
What the Necronomicon DOES say is that in the ancient days (although it didn't elaborate on exactly HOW ancient, though he was talking about humans) some scientists tried to create "colour weapons" or something like that. THen it goes on a goofy religious rant talking about "no mortal mind can ever withstand the might of mighty Cthulhu!!!1"
As a whole, the NEcronomicon (i am talking about Tyson's, of course, not that... you know... other one) is filled with nifty info but it's kinda hard to get to the truth behind all the superstitous nonsense. Apperently Alhazred really did think Cthulhu was a god or something.
Anywhichways, to answer the question of this topic... no. There are a billion different "armaggedons." All contradicting each other because the whole mythos is way too hard to keep track of and for the most part no one really tries anymore. Well, except for Chaosium.
But you wanna know what I think? The stars were right in 1994 and then Godzilla almost killed Cthulhu who ran away. And, honestly, Cthulhu is the only one who is going to wake up. Consider most other Great Old Ones on earth don't actually want to do anything. Cyeagha tries to keep himself asleep, Tsathoggua sleeps past everything, Ithaqua is already out, and anything he'd do he'd do now, Cthugha and Hastur do not give a flying flip about what happens here (which is a good thing for us, cuz they don't mess around), the outer gods can do whatever, Y'golonac, Eihort, Glaaki, etc... are already capable of waking up and ARE awake but they wait for certain conditions to... continue killing people? All in all, the apocalypse of GOO's is gonna be pretty boring until Nyarlathotep decides to do some damage... THEN the stuff's gonna fly!
look at the time... with your eyeballs.
go on now, do it.
