This is for those who been known to write horror fiction most of the time, I am wondering if some of you can scare people by writing true stories too. I've been prone to write some rather visceral material but what I am looking for with the magazine is also stories that are gothic in nature but they are true. Average out about 3300 to 9800 words for the nonfiction, and I will be publishing seven fiction stories too as well as seven nonfiction stories.
Serling and Matheson got known for both writing nonfiction, Lovecraft did so with a long essay too studying the subject of horror in the ages. What I am looking for in mind is either the true ghost story or the health scare, two of those alone would create a Gothic tale if written in the works of fiction. I publish a lot of what they call Weird Menace type horror, but now I am looking for the H.P. Lovecraft of the nonfiction realms.
I will take submissions via msn messenger or yahoo pager too as well as email. The scarier the nonfiction is, the better. I want to make Rod Serling and the other writers who captured the darkness before us proud.
They must be well executed in nature -- and publish ready. If I do this from my relatives I don't have word to do all the edits on the computer, but if I do it from the apartment I do but it isn't a fast computer and need the all-nighters in the world to edit them. I will consider snail mail subs as long they're on a floppy disk or a CD-R, if you want my p.o. box, contact me privately because I don't want any tools sending me junk mail.
The word counts: I am looking for stories between 2400 to 9800 words fiction or nonfiction, just scare the ever living fuck out of me. If you can do that with a true story, that takes real talent. It also adds a dimension to your fiction writing when you go back to write fiction. I've been doing fiction as long as I have been doing nonfiction, and sold my nonfiction to various publications in the small press. I will be appearing with ED LEE the author of Flesh Gothic on Withersin with my nonfiction and with my photography -- so if you got photography they go hand in hand.
Aleister, if you want to contribute nonfiction to this monster too go for it -- I am looking for really gothic in nature here. Gothicism is the key with the nonfiction, meaning if you know a girl who actually goth's out and actually comes up with some truly scary shit -- I want to hear about it. Health scares, ghostly encounters, psychological vampires, or other scary subject matter will be fair game here.
