One would count, but . . .

six novels, 11 short stories (according to Wikipedia).

When Lumley dies, Lovecraft will greet him on the other side . . . with a bitch slap.

Only when he's finished with Derleth.

You think he's still working him over?

Howie is probably just jealous that he doesn't have a memorial bridge like Augie does.

Another reason to keep working him over. Plus, I'm still none-too-pleased with Derleth's take on the mythos, and I have the attention span of a magpie in Liberachi's house.

Lumley purposely tried to make his stuff more action based than Lovecraft. He wrote somewhere that he couldn't stand to have all his characters fainting.

I agree some of his stuff isn't that great, but "Return of the Deep Ones" is awesome. While not really Mythos, the short story "Snarker's Son" is wonderfully creepy.

I respect that. Personally, I have trouble with the rampant loss of sanity in Mythos tales; it just doesn't jive with human nature.

Well, IMHO the smaller of Lumeley stories are... decent.
Titus Crow sucks, however, and it sucks in almost any way imaginable.

Also, Lumeley's way of scientifically explaining away Mythos entities is lame. Not because it is a wrong thing to do, as Lovecraft actually leaned strongly towards sci-fi, but because Lumeley is quite lame when dealing with "science" in science fiction...
