wait, i've been through there, and i just saw pretty standard-length short stories. i'm talking about like 1-paragraph stories.. watch, i'll post an example. i have tons of em, and they're mostly useless unless they give people ideas to run with.

Useless?!? i beg to differ with you there, hoss. i think the short short story is just as valid as a regular length short story, novella, poem, or novel. if it makes the reader experience the desired effect, then the medium (or vehicle) is irrelevant.

in addition, a paragraph or two story requires more refining and detail in the execution. everything needs to be 'just right' to heighten the mood. a short short cannot afford many missteps.

many authors use this exquisite form to invoke a pointed atmosphere of dread and weirdness. most notably Thomas Ligotti. needless to say, the short short story is one of my favorites.

what i'm talking about isn't really polished stuff, but more like the seeds of stories that haven't really grown yet. writing a really good short short story is probably just as demanding as poetry.. i have big-picture syndrome, so i'm not good at distillation

hey no prob. i just wanted to get my feelings on paper ( or on the net ) about that. there are many people in the world that dismiss short prose. i suddenly felt the need to champion this literary form.

although it probably wouldn't kill you guys to compliment my writing (if you think it merits praise).

what i've read of your cult site is pretty well-written. but i think the presentation (lots of text filling the screen) could use some improvement. the first thing i would suggest is to limit the column-width. after that, i'd add some more graphics, artwork, etc. you have some thoughtful stuff in there, so it's a shame to let page layout detract from the message

ok, thanks for the website advice. i was actually more interested in the myspace and attached blog stories, but i'll take site criticism too.

yeah, the site itself is a little... not sure what the word is, but it could be smoother, more polished, etc. unfortunately (prepare to wince) it costs me $80 an hour for my website work. this means cosmetic changes are probably not going to be made. the site can always use updates, but from now on i'm going to limit it to a few new paintings/writings every 6 months or so.

in fact, i'd like to concentrate on the site less while concentrating more on self publishing books and creating some sort of career in the weird art field. i'm seeing improvement in both since last year, so i'm happy.

and may Satanis mark your virgins with fetal blood, rejoicing, and the severed tongues of your enemies...
