What would you like to see adapted?

Post by Pickman »

Hello all,

Would like to get a lengthy thread going here, so I thought I'd pose a question...

What Lovecraft story would you like to see adapted to the big (or small) screen? Also, would you rather see it as a live action or animated piece?

I look forward to your responses!

Take care,

Craig

Very hard decision.. I will give it some thought. I suppose I am not limited to one choice anyway :)

Ziggurat,

Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath is a great answer, and probably my choice as well. As much as I enjoy the animated version (especially since I was part of the production!), I would love to see a big sprawling live action film like LOTR. JP Ouellette (director of The Unnamable and The Unnamable II) expressed interest in adapting the story to the screen, but said that he would never be able to acquire the budget necessary for such an undertaking...

The White Ship is one that I've never heard anyone mention. It would make a great animated tale. I'm one of few people I know who would like to see more animated Lovecraft films. There are very few currently in production. Matter of fact, The Hound is the only one I can think of. Back in the late 80's, JP Ouellette said that he wanted to do a series of animated Lovecraft shorts that would play (in theaters and on video) before his feature films. One of the titles he mentioned was "The Cats of Ulthar"...

There is currently a version of "The Thing in the Moonlight" being adapted as a short film...

I look forward to your answer(s) Aleister!

Take care,

Craig

It is currently out-of-print, but you can find them on eBay from time to time...

It will be re-released next year by Lurker Films as part of the H.P. Lovecraft Collection though.

With director Edward Martin's permission, I'm going to try and get the local arthouse theater (Circle Theater) to do a weekend screening of Dream-Quest. I saw it on the big screen at last years Lovecraft Film Fest, and had a blast...

I'm very proud to have been a part of the production...

Now if I can only get one of my Lovecraftian short films off the ground! :)
