First things first.. you need a mud client - a program which will let you connect to a mud (text-based online multi-player world type thingie).

I recommend Zmud - http://www.zuggsoft.com/zmud/zmudinfo.htm

Once it is up and running, connect to cthulhumud.com on port 8889.

After that, it will walk you through the process of setting up your character, etc. There is a lot of helpful info on http://www.cthulhumud.com as well.

It has been crazy around here with the holidays, but I will try to catch you on here sometime if these instructions do not work very well :)

What about now? and now? and now?! :) We've hit one of those exam period, heavy job load, etc loads, however I still glance on from time to time as do many others. Let us know if you have any problems, and if you need quick response you can always email bast and me at cthulhumud@foxpaws.net

OK, I've followed you so far.

I've got the programme and started a character.

But I can't seem to train it or practice my skills ( all those points are just sitting there!).

Can you offer me any pointers ?

I'm using a prgm called fireclient. I can't seem to connect 4 some reason.

It's wanting host, id, and port. I know the port but what do I put for the other junk?

It says something about a winsock error or something.

EDIT: NEVERMIND - FOUND IT ON THE LIST
Fear is always lurking..

Laurence, there should be a trainer somewhere near your starting point.

Type 'help train' and 'help prac' for some info.

In fact, typing just 'help' gives you a lot of info too :)

Howdy :)
I'm a complete noob. Found this site, downloaded zMUD, and I've connected. I've gotten to the point where it's asking me to pick some skills. I want to pick martial arts, but it won't let me >.<
How do I go about picking it?
