Cthulhu Christmas Ornaments...

Post by Secret3 »

I'm new to this forum, I am an artist who frequently creates mythos inspired art and I thought I'd pimp my latest wares. I hope this is the right place for this.
These Christmas ornaments are finished with gold leaf, the tapered ones have Swarovski crystal eyes. Like I said I do make other mythos art including sculptures and paintings, and I am working on a Cthulhu chess set at the moment which should be finished before Christmas.

Anyway, here's the pics;

I've always wanted to design a chess set myself, I was thinking of some sort of Bosch-inspired hordes of Hell's bowels thing.

Nah, I was thinking more that each square would look like an ancient cracked flagstone, and the pieces would be of a dark, grainy, knotted wood. One obviously lighter than the other.

Hmm. Careful it doesn't make the board slip too much.

I have a sort of bust of Cthulhu, well it's kind of like a bust anyway. It is a limited edition sculpture, only 25 castings made. Here's a pic;

And here's a couple pictures of the chess set in progress, it doesn't look like I've gotten very far, but the sculptures are all finished and I'm making the last 2 moulds right now (the pawn and the rook)
The bright white pieces are the bishops (Dagon) and have not been painted yet. The other ones are; Cthulhu (king), Nyarlathotep (queen), and Hounds of Tindalos (knights- they move in angles you see...)
The ones you don't see are; shoggoth (rook) and Deep Ones (pawns).

Kent Turner: I must say, great work!

Would you be interested in having it displayed in the 'Featured Artists' section? :)

Email me and let me know, and feel free to send over any other pictures of your work. Oh, and if you get tired of it, I will be happy to take the (future) chess set off your hands ;)

Thanks, Aleister, I will be happy to send you some more pictures of my work for display. :-D

Incidentally, I must have been very tired when I registered today because I thought I was entering my name (Kent Turner) in the user info field and that my board ID would come later in the registration process. Any chance of me being able to change my ID, or would I have to re-register? No big deal either way.

The chess set (when completed) will be something of a limited edition creation. I will keep the moulds and plan to make several; one to keep, the others to sell!

How much would you be charging for a set?
