The Gods and the Miracle
Hi. Years ago I wrote a short story inspired by the HPL's early workings and my American friend translated it into English.

The Gods and the Miracle
There are those times when over Olympus rise simultaneously the Sun and the Star. And the gods raise up their heads and gaze upon them in their glory. For it is only once in an Aeon that the rays of the Sun, without the loss of the least part of their luster, allow the Star to grace the denizens of heaven with its beauty at midday.
There are those times when over Olympus a miracle occurs upon which even the gods gaze in wonder. They soar up into the heights to touch the duo unique. In that moment, all is lost in darkness, and the depths of the universe ring with bell-like laughter which in that moment drowns the song of the spheres and then is silenced. The gods remain alone.
They return once more to their honored abodes and to their dark cells and drive each the other unto insanity. Then they calm and live on as before. They create worlds and rule them according to their Wills, make love and dance, sing and rejoice... in their souls, however, they feel an emptiness which they are helpless to fill.
In the end, they forget. Even gods forget.
